Hooray for Beer!

Today I feel like having a beer. I have noticed that recently I've been drinking less and less. I haven't done it purposely, kinda like the same with smoking. I never set out to practically stop smoking, it just kinda happened. Now, I haven't completely quit smoking, I still smoke A LOT when I go out for a few drinks. On ocassions, maybe like once a week I'll also smoke a cigarette on my way home from work. One pack can last me up to a month or until I lose it. hehe. With drinking it's becoming where I can't really afford to go out right now and I am not the type to sit at home alone with a six pack. I don't drink just to drink, I drink to socialize. So, since I have no money, I have no social life, since I have no social life I do not drink. But today, I am gonna drink if it's the last thinig I do! LOL. I'm trying to get t hold of Serg and Gene to see if they wanna have a few, we'll see what happens.

Today at work they released an email saying that on June 12 we would have a pic-nick with BBQ and goodies. There's also a relay race of three teams (one per supervisor). Each team will have 16 team member it in and each team member will run one mile. I signed up for it. But I have never participated in any kind of race. Unless you count racing my dumb neighboor friends to the tortilleria or the store when our parents sent us to get something. I think this and the softball game will give me the motivation to start working out and get back to my normal weight. (180 lbs, in case you were wondering. No skinny, short little "Messican" here! lol).

flash update:
I just spoke with Serg and he'll have a few with me... cool!

Anyway, I hope it will be cool, the pic-nick. I want Felicia to come with the girls and to the softballs games too. But I know that will take some convincing and she might nott want to come to all the events.

That's all...

Wednesday Whatevers.

1. Should somebody be your enemy if they are your parents' enemy? Why?
No, because that would be just plain out dumb!

2. Why do you answer memes?
What the fuck is a meme?

3. Do you use net slang or type correctly?
At work, I have to type beyond correctly! I have use professional terms like "romantic partner" for "girlfriend" or "engaged in a dispute" rather than "argued" and so forth. In my blog though, I let it rip with the slang and the bad grammar.

Random update

Ok, so the dingo bat bite is still on my hand. The itching and the burning are gone but the bruise is still there. I tried going to the doctor twice but I missed my appointment on both instances cuz I forgot to take the directions to the doctor's office. Anyway, I think I will go again soon if the bruise doesn't go away.

On Thursday evening, Sharmeen (my sister in law) was taken to the hospital due to sever abdominal pain. She was hospitalized and the following day we found out she had some type of stomach infection. For the next day or so, they tried to pump the infection through her nose but eventually she had to undergo surgery. She's ok now, the surgery went well and she's recovering now. Ok, so, because of this Michael (who is 5 I think) and Jonathan (who is 3 I think) had to spend the night with us on Saturday night.

AAARRRGGGHHH!

That was my excrutiatingly painful cry of frustration

These kids are terrible! But what pissed me off the most was that at their fucking age THEY STILL WET THEIR FUCKING CLOTHES!!!!. They both pissed all over our new couch and stained our cushions with the piss. Then the following day they piss and ruin their clothes... TWICE! I have never, ever felt like spanking a child so bad like I did those two. They're fucking 3 and 5 years old for fuck's sake!!! Aside from that, it wasn't too bad. I mean, I think they're ok and they love to play. But damn... that shit was beyond frustrating and annoying.

On Sunday, Felicia, my mom, Ricky, my girls and Sharmeen's kids went to Mexican food festival called "El Festival del Tamal". Tamales are a typical Mexican dish that can be prepared a variety of ways depending on the state it comes from. Anyway, the festival itself was rather small, it was the first one ever. It was pretty lousy as far as organization goes. There was a huge problem with the judging and how it was handled. People thought it was rigged and many left upset at the organizers. Some of the tamales were freaking awesome. We voted for table "12" but they didn't win... hehe.

We also bumped into one of Serg's former co-workers who is a volunteer for the Latin American Coalition and was working one of the stands. The Latin American Coalition has a program, amongst many others of course, called "Pura Vida; Explora Tu Mundo". In this program, the coalition sets up trips to all parts of NC and SC in the form of field trips. I am assuming it is so the little construction workers/landscapers/dishwasher crowd can be a little more enlightened of where they currently live. During their last trip they went to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont. On June 12, they organized another trip to The Grandfather Mountains. So far, myself, Felicia and the girls, My moms, Ricky and James are ready to go. The trip is only $25 which included a one year membership to the coalition events, breakfast, lunch, transportation and the entrance fee to the park. Sweet Deal!

Today I signed up for my company's softball team. I've never played softball in my life. My dad spent most of his adult life playing minor league softball in Mexico. He also started by playing for his company's softball team. I think it will something cool to do. Hopefully I will do well.

I guess that's it.

GOOD TIMES!

Good Times.
Any time you meet a payment.
Good Times.
Anytime you need a friend.
Good Times.

Any time you're out from under.
Not getting hastled, not getting hustled
Keepin' your head above water,
Making a wave when you can.

Temporary lay-offs.
Good Times.
Easy credit rip-offs.
Good Times.
Scratchin' and surviving.
Good Times.
Hanging in a chow line.
Good Times.
Ain't we lucky we got'em
Good Times?

Anyway, BLOGGER, who is my blog host has relaunched their service and it is kick fucking ass now! I hate they did it to rivalize and resemble that of Livejournal's. Anyway, the new formula is the best! I love it... Big thanks to them... especially cuz this service is FREE!

Anyway, our real life revival of the Evans Family everyday drama in the new millennium is going according to script. We have pretty much reached rock bottom. We literally are fucking broke! Thank God our families are very supportive and understanding. I mean, it's not like I don't have a "GOOD PAYING JOB" (or at least that's what you'd think from a position that DEMANDS a college degree). Yet, we are always broke... loans, bills, debts and a million other things just keep popping up.... It's getting really, really bad. Felicia can't find a job and she get really sad about that. I wish she could find a job soon so she'd be happy. I am also looking for a part time and in the process a higher paying full time. But the job market, at least in my field and the fields I am interested in (Human Resources mostly) are scant at best. We're getting really desperate. This pay period coming up, we practically already owe everything I'm expected to get... Maybe I should start considering a life of crime... after all, I am Mexican... I have the thug gene in me somewhere... hehehe. Maybe I should start small with like luxury car hubcaps or something... haha

Yesterday at work I think something bit me. I have no idea what it was... anyway, at first my right hand started itching really bad so obviously I started scratching it (Yay! for cause and effect). I noticed a had a large mildly red bruise where I had scratched. No pain though. By this morning the bruise turned a dark red hue. Still no pain. Now it's still a dark red but I can feel it burn a little... like little beetie pins going into my skin but only when I rub it (and don't ask why I rubbed it, I just did, ok?). For the past few minutes I've felt a tingling sensation to where you can't really tell if it's pain or not... but it's there... my peer are telling me to go to the ER but I still have an hour to go and I don't wanna lose that hour. Maybe a dingo bat bit me.... ummm... what the fuck is a dingo bat?

Well, I went to Yahoo and did a search and it turns out a Dingo is not even a bat... it's a dog type animal. Uh, go figure... I don't think it was a Dingo that bit me though.

Meet my new friend, The Dingo

Anyway, I'll let it ride for tonight (although now my arm is getting kinda numb) and I will see what happens tomorrow... unless I wussy out and it gets worse tonight... hehe...

Oh shit... too much shit in my life right now... WHO NEEDS A BEER?!

Wednesday Whatevers.

1. Would you want an arranged marriage or choose your own? Why?
Choose my own... what the fuck do you mean why? I am not answering that on general principle... Besides, I am already married and I CHOSE Felicia (Thank God she chose me too otherwise I would have to have settled for second best).

2. What would you sacrifice for someone else?
My life for Felicia and my daughters.

3. Do you think God has a gender? If so, what is it?
No, I don't think God is tangible hence it cannot have gender. But in all the full glory of my self righteous maleness, I do refer to God as a "He".

My friend James is moving out of his house and in the process he decided to pretty much sell everything he owns. I purchases a living room set from him. He made the living room set himself and it is very rustic. Rustic furniture in Mexico became very popular lately. I am thinking that is the reason he made it look like that. Albeit, it is not the best furniture set I've seen in my life it isn't the worst either and for $180 for a 5 piece set made of Oak and Pine wood, I thought it would be good deal. Well, Felicia utterly despises it! She hates it cuz it's too much wood and it is too tall. But then again, it is a rustic piece. Felicia hates that we got rid of our old furniture that her mom gave us (and of which she kept complaining and wanted to get rid of). Goodwill refused to take the furniture cuz two of the cushions had rips on them. We ended up throwing them away in the apartment complex's dumpster. Now, she's having a guilt trip cuz it was furniture her mom gave her. I can't blame her, I mean I understand but they were pretty trashed. Another thing that sucked was that the furniture is too big for our living room. The loveseat is the size of a Full Sized bed. We were gonna use that for Fabianna's bed but me and Ricky fucked up and assembled it (cuz they're too big to haul around assembled) in the living room and then we couldn't fit in the door to Fabi's room (They don't call us Einstein and Edison for nothing, you know?). So now, we have to wait until next weekend to fix everything. I will post a picture of everything then so you can judge the atrocity I bought. hehe.

Felicia applied for a job at a retail store she really likes. I really hope she gets the job. I know it would really help her bring her spirits up cuz she really wants to do something. I still can't find a part time. Adecco called me this morning... we'll see what happens. The sure thing is that money is getting much tighter and debts are getting much larger. But when I feel like I am about to give out Felicia plays Good Times (Yes, we have it on DVD.. hehe) and it lifts my spirits right up to keep fighting and struggling.

I am a little upset at Felicia right now. It's over something really insignificant and dumb, but when she told me it was so nonchalantly... so matter-of-factly that it bothered me. Not to mention, it did hurt my feeling cuz she could have just avoided the whole situation but I guess her emotions in THIS instance ran higher than common sense. Well, I guess mine is mostly a "macho", self righteous trip... But it is still bothering me a lot... I want to put it behind me but it keeps popping up. I don't know... I don't even know why it's bothering me so much... but it is.

Serg also behaved like a fucking asshole this weekend and I've made up my mind to just stop catering to his fucking vicious, morbid obsession with his video game, beer and cigarettes... It's getting out of hand. Oh well... I guess each person has it's own version of paradise.

Speaking of fair maidens being rescued by Jamaican knights in hemp armors (he he), Sharmeen is engaged!.... again.....

Hopefully this is guy is the one. He is Jamaican and he has the thickest accent. I've only met him once in passing. He seems like a nice person... From what I've heard he loves her kids and treats her good. I really wish the best for her and hopefully she gets to keep this one... hehehe.

I guess that's it for now..

A couple of days ago I saw the uncensored version of the decapitated American soldier by the Iraqi terrorists. Actually, the first time I stumbled upon it on Consumption Junction I wasn't able to see it by myself, because about a year or so ago, I saw another decapitation video in that same page (in no way related to this one) and to this day, the image remains as vivid as the day I saw it. Now, although I don't regret seeing the original video, the image has haunted me since and it remains quite shocking. Anyway, the following day I hung out with Gene and Serg and I told them about it. Gene immediately wanted to see so we all sat through the whole thing. Wow... to this day, I am unable to find the way to describe what I saw and how I felt. I am not able to sit here and formulate an intelligent, concise post on my blog to tell you what went through my head as I saw it. The worse part was the horrified screams... the lack of compassion for human life... I felt ashamed to be a human being... This has gone too far...

Well, the job hunt isn't going well for me or Felicia. We really need to find something ASAP. In the meantime, we have to struggle. Today I was telling Felicia that both she and I come from extreme poverty and our families eventually were able to succeed. Now, right now, it feels like my childhood all over again. I obviously don't want the girls experiencing that. But I know that we will thrive and succeed in our lives. As long as we don't give up or let hope die, this will be a passing thing. Fortunately, we have many people who are willing to help us with the girls when Felicia is at work. For that, I am very thankful. Hopefully, things will take a turn for the best soon.

James is selling me a living room set with a center table and a cool mirror. He is, or was a carpenter (I think cuz he wanted to follow J.C's footsteps.. hehe, j/k) and he made it himself. It has this cool rustic look to them with these cool vivid blue cushions. The largest sofa is the size of a Full Size bed. I think that might become Fabi's bed. He's charging me $180 but fortunately he understand the situation I'm in and he said to pay him whenever I can. He's moving out of his house so he needs to get rid of it anyway.

Yesterday I had to leave work early cuz I felt ill. Today I felt ill again but I didn't want to leave and lose more hours. Fortunately I have enough sick time to cover it. I will also try to take some overtime here and there but the company really doesn't want us to. I play to skip my lunch every now and then and hopefully that will give me a few extra dollars.

Well, I guess that's it...

Here are the Wednesday Whatevers.

1. What is the most annoying thing about school?
Narcs and Math

2. How much control do you need over your life?
100%, unfortunately Fabianna and Larissa have full control right now.

3. Would you rather have a perfect, or interesting life? Why?
an interesting life because I am quite extroverted

Wednesday, May 12, 2004

Well, so many things have happened recently...

Me and Felicia have been working out our communication problems rather well. We have become more open with each other and have agreed not to hide anything from each other. I am glad to announce that I have kept my side of the bargain and I am pretty sure she has too.

Economically though, we've been suffering a lot. Sadly, my company doesn't pay what they should to compensate for the type and quality of work they demand of us. On June 6, it will be my one year anniversary with GCS. I don't really feel any different than a year ago. The company has gone through a lot of changes, mostly for the better... but we went from being employees to becoming another tool in our cubicles. Oh well, the company had to turn us into that to be the well oiled money making machine they want to be.

Anyway, me and Felicia have been desperately trying to get part time jobs because things have gone down hill. Felicia has even considered returning to Wells Fargo. Now, the reason I say that is because she utterly hates that place. Well, if anyone has any part time openings out there... let us know.

Sadly, due to the lack of money we missed City Fest. Due to the rain, we missed the Taste of Charlotte and due to DOWNTOWN being overcrowded and not being able to find a parking space, we also missed the Ciao Italia! Festival. On the plus side, me and Felicia have tried to spend more quality time together and we took the kids to the park to spend the afternoon. That was more fun than I though it would be. We also hung out with this other interracial couple in a Cuban club. ON Mother's day we visited her grandmother and her mom and then we went out with my family to celebrate my mom. We have spent time together, with the babies and alone.

I got her a cool pin for mother's day because I really couldn't afford what I really wanted to give her. When I can afford it, I'm not gonna wait for a special date to give it to her though. I can't say what it is cuz I want it to be a nice surprise.

Anyway, I got this idea that I wanted to produce this Public Access show. When I was in college in Houston, me and some friends and roommates had made a self produced 30-minute low budget PA show called "Grito Alternativo". The show was basically a showcase for local, Latin rock, punk, garage, surf and mostly rockish type bands who sang is Spanish. Anyway, all we did was interview the little dumb kids and showed live footage of them or low budget pseudo videos they made themselves. Anyway, it had a pretty cool following cuz the Hispanic (especially Mexican) culture in Houston is rather large. Now, as opposed to Charlotte and the rest of NC, the vast majority of the Mexican population in Houston are not the little cement plastered, construction working, dishwasher, landscapers that seem to thrive here. Houston's Mexican population is very diverse. Hence, the "rock" scene as well as any other scene had a pulse, again... unlike that of Charlotte's cuz all the Mexican's in Charlotte listen to is that loud ass tacky folk peasant music. Anyway, my idea was to recreate that type of show here in Charlotte. The Hispanic population is growing rapidly... I mean, I'm sure you guys hear that shit everyday. But apparently, in this pseudo metro city (two cows, a church and a pasture!) in order to purchase air time in public access you have to take classes and do all types of weird shit. (this is what my friend Shelly told me, she's a film major at UNCC and she's done it before so I believed her.) Anyway, if I do want to go ahead and do it though, I will need to make a census of the Hispanic population here and then... make another one within the Hispanic population to find out how many people would be even remotely interested in that music. If not enough then It would be pointless. As far as I know... I've only heard of one Latin rock band in the area called "La Rua". I've actually heard them and they're a cover band... a big NO NO in our original show but since I don't have much to go on they will have to do. I am going to try to contact them. There's another one called "Peralta" but they play mostly Santanish-type music (and I've always hated Santana's music) so they wouldn't exactly fit the mold of the type of music showcased in this show. Oh, well, I guess this is all just daydreaming but it won't hurt anybody huh?

Anyway, I guess this has been going on for too long... bye.
